Smith’s Food & Drug next week will hold grand opening ceremonies for six stores converted from the Food 4 Less banner in the Las Vegas market.
Both Smith’s and Food 4 Less are divisions of Kroger Co. As reported previously, the discount Food 4 Less banner is exiting the Las Vegas market.
Each of the new stores, set to open under the Smith’s banner March 4, received more than $4 million in renovations, the company said. More than 800 former Food 4 Less workers have been trained to staff the new stores.
Renovations provided the stores with new amenities including pharmacy, deli and bakery counters, service meat and seafood departments, floral selections and self-checkout stations. The new location at 8180 Las Vegas Blvd. will also offer fresh sushi, Boar's Head deli meat, and the first Murray’s Cheese in Nevada.
“We are delighted to bring new services and a wider selection of items for our new customers by opening these six new stores throughout the Valley,” Jay Cummins, Smith’s president, said in a statement. “Having the familiar faces of former Food 4 Less associates greet them in these new Smith’s stores will make their visits even more enjoyable.”
Smith’s currently operates 37 stores in Southern Nevada.
