The new Winn-Dixie in Gainesville sits on a former Lucky’s Market location.
The Gainesville store houses Winn-Dixie’s fifth Taproom, a bar and seating area that serves beer, wine, coffee and a selection of noshes.
Highlights of the butcher shop include cuts of Certified Angus Beef, inspected for marbling, maturity, sizing, quality and tenderness to meet 10 standards more selective than USDA choice and prime beef.
Pastries, signature desserts and more than 15 varieties of artisan-baked breads are showcased in the store’s fresh bakery.
The Lakewood Ranch Winn-Dixie also is a onetime Earth Fare store.
Locally caught items such as Florida Keys lobster, stone crab and Mayport shrimp and seasonal favorites like mahi mahi, grouper and triggerfish are found in the seafood department.
An expanded specialty cheese section is a hallmark of new Winn-Dixie stores.
The Lakewood Ranch store’s enhanced produce department includes “world flavor” vegetables plus an assortment of tropical fruit and berries.
