Giant Eagle’s second Market District Express store opened last week in the tree-lined Columbus, Ohio, suburb of Bexley. At 30,000 square feet, it is twice the size of the Market District Express original in McMurray, Pa. Sandy Skrovan, a Columbus-based retail consultant and director of myRetailPOV.com, told SN the two-level store and restaurant “will well serve the surrounding urban-oriented 'walking' community, a mix of local residents and college students."
Locals and students from nearby Capital University can choose from among a variety of foods prepared fresh at the deli…
…Or they might grab and go from the store’s extensive selection.
Market District’s focus on fresh continues into a well-stocked produce department.
The Market District Express is big on local merchandise, with 20 suppliers sourced from no more than 150 miles away.
The second level features the 155-seat restaurant and bar called Table by Market District. The full-service lunch and dinner menu is prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients and reflects the Bexley community, and the eatery also boasts 18 beers on tap and 1,200 varieties of wine.
Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle employs 70 grocery and 40 restaurant workers at the Bexley store. The store also offers service meat and seafood, an in-store Starbucks and online ordering with curbside delivery.
