TORONTO — Longo Brothers Fruit Markets here, which operates 15 stores and an online grocery service, plans to implement an inventory management system from Tomax, Salt Lake City, in 2008, according to John Charleson, director of IT for Longo’s. The system will incorporate a perpetual inventory system and a demand forecasting system in order to generate automatic orders for each stockkeeping unit. “The system won’t take responsibility away from the store manager,” he said. “They will have a window to make changes in orders.” Last year, Longo’s implemented Tomax’s merchandise management and store operations suites, part of the vendor’s Retail.net solutions.
