Time Switch Smooth Sailing at AWI

ROBESONIA, Pa. -- If the experience reported by Glenn Kriczky is any measure, then food retailers appear to have made it through the earlier-than-usual hour-forward switch to daylight savings time Sunday morning unscathed.

ROBESONIA, Pa. -- If the experience reported by Glenn Kriczky is any measure, then food retailers appear to have made it through the earlier-than-usual hour-forward switch to daylight savings time Sunday morning unscathed. “We didn't have really any negative impact this past weekend,” said Kriczky, vice president of information systems, Associated Wholesalers Inc. here. AWI‘s stores run Microsoft Server 2000 and 2003 but disable the automatic change settings. “We sent out reminders to our stores to change the server the evening of the time change, and all the other PCs on the network plus the [checkout] lanes pull the time change nightly.” Daylight savings time took place three weeks earlier than ever before this year. -- Michael Garry
