New ways to do the most important meal of the day

Packaged breakfasts highlight the latest food trends

Packed with protein and probiotics. Recipes with limited simple ingredients. An emphasis on convenience and portability. New packaged breakfasts incorporate the top consumer food trends.

Consumer research firm Mintel has found that frozen breakfast sales are stable, but handheld and portable options have found growth — one in five younger adults eat breakfast while in transit.

According to Beth Bloom, Mintel’s associate director of food and drink, "Boosting the importance of breakfast is in order. Only about half of US adults think breakfast is more important than lunch or dinner, down from 2014, and less than half say it sets the tone for their day. Nevertheless, consumption is high.”
