Previously sold only in its Ludlow, Mass., unit, winemaking juice is now available at its Naugatuck and North Haven, Conn., locations, according to a Big Y YouTube video.

Six types of Italian juice are available. A premium California juice is available on special order.

In addition to juice, the stores are selling California wine grapes, including those marketed under the Valley Beauty, Pia and Lodi Gold brands.

Last spring, its Ludlow store carried Chilean wine grape juice in cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, pinot noir, chardonnay and other varietals.

The juice was sold for a limited time in 6-gallon drums that retailed for about $56 to $60 each, depending on market conditions.

The unpasteurized juice was stored in a rented refrigerated trailer, parked in the Ludlow unit’s receiving dock.

Several stores also sell a variety of winemaking equipment, ranging from demijohns, corkers and chemicals to complete winemaking kits.
