IRI: Bud Light Lime-A-Rita top new beverage

Bud Light Lime-A-Rita, Eight O’Clock K-Cups and Pepsi Next were among the most successful new beverage launches last year, according to IRI’s 2013 “New Product Pacesetters" list.

The list identifies food and beverage product introductions with the highest year-one dollar sales.

All three brands made the Top 10 food and beverage list. Bud Light Lime-A-Rita is No. 5 with $97.4 million in multi-outlet sales; Eight O’Clock K-Cups, No. 7 with $89.8 million in sales; and Pepsi Next, No. 8, $83.2 million.

The list comes at a time when about 190,000 new UPCs and 9,500 new brand launches hit the shelves in 2013. In convenience stores, the biggest overall launch was Monster Energy Ultra, with $268.2 million in sales.
