For CBD, 2019 was a year of big growth — and some controversy

The CBD category exploded in 2019, but all is not clear on the regulatory front. As the year came to a close, the Food & Drug Administration released a consumer update saying that it could not conclude that cannabidiol was safe for use in food, and that CBD products marketed for therapeutic uses also haven’t been approved and their claims and safety remain uncertain.

After a booming 2019, CBD may find itself in some murky waters in 2020.
