Big Y Foods said Wednesday it has promoted Eric A. Swensen to VP of center store for the 60-store chain, which is based in Springfield, Mass.
He most recently had been senior director of center store.
Swensen began his Big Y career in 1985 as a part-time service clerk and moved up to through various store-management and center store support positions. In 2009, he was named director of frozen food and dairy, until his 2012 appointment as senior director of center store.
In his new post position, Swensen will oversee all grocery, dairy, frozen food, health and beauty care, general merchandise, pharmacy, retail pricing, space management and store brands. He will be responsible for developing strategies and tactical direction as well as planning and support for each of these departments.
He reports to Michael P. D’Amour, EVP.
