PLEASANTON, Calif. — A Boston court has ruled that the maker of Safeway Select coffee pods did not infringe on Keurig’s patents for single-serve coffee.
While Keurig uses plastic for its K-Cups, The Rogers Family Co.’s “OneCups” portion coffee in a ball with filter material, according to Rogers Family Co. founder Jon Rogers.
“There is no longer any doubt about our ability to sell our OneCup products for use in Keurig brewers,” he said.
The expiration of Keurig patents last September prompted a number of private-label introductions of Keurig-compatible coffee pods, but OneCups were introduced while the patents were still active.
