PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway has launched dark chocolate candy bars under its Safeway Select brand.

“It's said that dark chocolate can slow the aging process,” Safeway wrote in a recent Facebook post. “Test out the theory with our new Safeway Select Dark Chocolate bar.”

The bars come in two flavors: dark, made with 85% dark cacao; and Sea Salt with Almond Nougat, made with 55% cacao.

Research shows that dark chocolate is full of antioxidants, and can lower high blood pressure, improve cognitive function and control blood sugar.
