Meijer Buys Dairy, Launches Purple Cow Creamery

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer here has purchased a milk processing plant in Holland Township, Mich. from Bareman Dairy , and will use the facility to launch Purple Cow Creamery, according to a report by Mlive.com.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.Meijer here has purchased a milk processing plant in Holland Township, Mich. from Bareman Dairy, and will use the facility to launch Purple Cow Creamery, according to a report by Mlive.com.

The dairy will supply milk to Meijer’s 101 Michigan stores. Mlive also reported that Meijer plans to invest $8 million to expand the facility. 


“This is an exciting day for our company,” said CEO Hank Meijer. “As Meijer continues to grow, it’s crucial we invest in the operations that will help us keep our promise of higher standards and lower prices to our customers. Expanding into dairy operations will do just that.”
