Associated Grocers of Louisiana, based in Baton Rouge, said it has named Emile R. Breaux to succeed president and CEO J.H. “Jay” Campbell upon Campbell’s planned retirement “within the next few years."
During the transition, Breaux has been named EVP and COO. He is currently EVP of retail operations at the cooperatively owned wholesaler.

In a statement, AG said its board of directors "felt that such advanced notice would provide for a more orderly and efficient management transition."
Breaux, a native of New Orleans, has been with AG since June of 1994 and has worked in several areas at the company, including information services, procurement, sales and marketing.
Campbell joined AG in January of 1972 and has been president since Feb. 1, 1995. He recently received the FMI Herbert Hoover Award for humanitarian service in the food industry.
He also was recently selected to receive the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society’s Grace “Mama” Marino Lifetime Achievement Award at its annual Fête Rouge award dinner Aug. 21 at L’Auberge Casino.
