He succeeds Kevin Schubert, who is scheduled to retire in March after more than 39 years with the San Bernardino, Calif.-based retailer.
Circaulo, director of marketing for the meat division, joined Stater in 1986 as a meat clerk and worked his way up to department manager, retail supervisor, buyer/merchandiser and meat buyer before being named to his current post in 2010.
“John is a well-respected and valuable member of our management team,” said Jack Brown, chairman and CEO, Stater Bros. “This promotion is a result of his leadership skills and the contributions that he has made towards the success of the company’s meat division.”
