FMI names Stein VP, fresh foods

Food Marketing Institute has appointed Rick Stein to the new position of VP of fresh foods.

Food Marketing Institute has appointed Rick Stein to the new position of VP of fresh foods.

Stein is tasked with creating a portfolio of services and activities to help retail members implement strategies for meat, poultry, seafood, produce, deli, bakery and fresh-prepared meals.

“Rick’s breadth of experience will lend itself to addressing some of our members’ most critical and challenging issues, particularly in fresh foods categories — from marketing and merchandising, to supply chain and store operations, with a holistic, 360-degree perspective, that will help us — to help them, achieve their marketplace objectives,” FMI SVP and chief collaboration officer Mark Baum said in a press release. “Rick will also help FMI to build out our Total Store Collaboration platform and capabilities.”

Stein started at the retail store level at Safeway, where he then worked for over 30 years. His most recent position was VP of retail merchandising and marketing execution.
