Chamberlain Farms Recall Expands to Watermelons

ST. LOUIS — Chamberlain Farms added watermelons to the list of recalled produce due to possible salmonella contamination, according to a release from Schnucks Markets here.

The Owensville, Ind.-based supplier, which the FDA named as the source of a cantaloupe-linked salmonella outbreak that killed two and sickened 204 last month, warned that watermelons from this past growing season could have been contaminated with Salmonella newport.

Customers who purchased watermelons before Sept. 7 from Schnucks stores in Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa bearing the sticker “Indian Hills - Product of USA” as well as Indiana customers who bought melons without any sticker can return the produce for a full refund.
