ISELIN, N.J. — Allegiance Retail Services said Wednesday that five former Met Foods stores in New York are now operating under the Foodtown banner.

The stores, located New Rochelle, Bellerose, The Bronx, Rego Park and Merrick were formally A&J Met Foods stores, owned and operated by Angelo Avena and Joseph Paravati.

"With the conversion of these five New York stores, we continue to show the growth of Allegiance. We are very excited to have Angelo and Joe join our team,” Michael Stolarz, president and chief operating officer of Allegiance, said in a statement.

As previously reported, the Foodtown cooperative last year formed Allegiance Retail Services to expand its offerings to other retailers, whether they operate under the Foodtown banner or retain their own.
