Court Sets Bruno’s Auction

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court yesterday ordered Bruno’s Supermarkets to auction itself next week.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The U.S. Bankruptcy Court here yesterday ordered Bruno’s Supermarkets to auction itself next week.

The chain, which filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February and has been unable to find a buyer, had requested to sell itself at auction because it could no longer afford to operate. The court set an auction date of April 22, with the possibility of an extension to April 29.

Bruno’s operated 66 stores when it filed bankruptcy.
