LANDOVER, Md. — Giant Food here, in partnership with the Whitman-Walker Clinic, said it would offer free HIV screenings at four store locations in Washington, D.C., over the next several weeks.

The free screenings will be offered as part of Giant Food’s commitment to the health and wellness of the community it serves.

The D.C. Department of Healths HIV/AIDS Administration has confirmed that 3% of the adult population in the District of Columbia is living with HIV. The city also has the highest rate - 12 times the national average - of new AIDS cases in the United States.
