WASHINGTON — The National Retail Federation on Monday said it has named Tita Freeman senior vice president, communications and public affairs.

She most recently had been vice president of communications and strategy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and before that had been with Google's Washington office. She also spent five years directing communications for the Business Roundtable, an association of U.S. industry leaders.

Freeman began her career with APCO Worldwide, a global public affairs firm, and in the corporate and federal markets division of LexisNexis.

"Tita brings a wealth of experience leading major communications efforts on behalf of the business community," said Matthew Shay, NRF president and chief executive officer. "Her strategic insights and expertise make her uniquely qualified to help advance the retail industry's agenda, and to bring NRF's public affairs to the next level."
