Wakefern Supplies Food Bazaar

KEASBEY, N.J. — Wakefern Food Corp. here said Wednesday that it would begin supplying product, including the ShopRite private label line, to the 16-store Food Bazaar chain in the New York City area.

KEASBEY, N.J. — Wakefern Food Corp. here said Wednesday that it would begin supplying product, including the ShopRite private label line, to the 16-store Food Bazaar chain in the New York City area.

Food Bazaar is a 24-year-old chain operated by Bogopa Service Corp., New

York, which specializes in catering to underserved areas. It has stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Wakefern, which also supplies the Gristedes chain in New York City, said it would provide dairy, frozen food, grocery, HBC, nonfoods and specialty product to Food Bazaar in addition to private label.

“We welcome Food Bazaar as the newest addition to our wholesale customer base,” said Jim Tracy, vice president of wholesale at Wakefern Food Corp. “We look forward to bringing our years of experience working with family-owned businesses to Food Bazaar and to expanding this relationship to include all of our perishable products, as well.”

Spencer An, senior vice president of Bogopa, said the company can now focus its attention and resources on future growth plans.

"More importantly, this agreement means that our customers will be able to benefit from the wide assortment of products and services offered by Wakefern, and expect to see the same great prices for products that they are accustomed to seeing at Food Bazaar."

Bogopa could not be reached for comment about its previous supply arrangements.
