SN presented its 2014 Marketer of the Year Award Tuesday to Marc Giroux of Canadian retailer Metro at the FMI Midwinter Executive Conference in Scottsdale, Ariz.
In a presentation held during the official Tuesday breakfast, SN publisher Jerry Rymont presented the award plaque and said it results from efforts to drive shopper loyalty and place the needs of the customer above all else.
The award is sponsored by Acosta Sales & Marketing, Jacksonville, Fla.
Giroux is VP and chief marketing and communications officer of the Montreal-based retailer, which operates more than 600 food stores across Eastern Canada and another 250 drugstores.
In accepting the award, Giroux credited his team, whose members are "very happy that our efforts to become a more customer-centric organization is being recognized."
Giroux said, "it's been a three-year journey, and our focus is to make our culture, values and associates at store level really passionate about our customers. And we're still very early in the journey, so we'll continue with these efforts."
