Save Mart offers Fandango movie rewards

Limited-time promotion includes tickets, online rentals for grocery purchases

The Save Mart Cos. is serving up movie rewards for grocery purchases through a partnership with online movie ticket provider Fandango.

Shoppers at Save Mart, Lucky California and FoodMaxx supermarkets will receive a free Fandango Movie Reward for every $25 spent on specially marked items in one transaction, Modesto, Calif.-based Save Mart announced Friday. The rewards can be used to get a ticket at a local movie theater or to stream movies at home via the VUDU streaming media service, which was acquired last year by Fandango Media.

The Fandango in-store rewards offer runs through Aug. 10. Save Mart said reward choices must be made and redeemed no later than Sept. 30, when the reward code expires.

“We hope our customers will enjoy the opportunity to watch summer movie releases on us,” Hal Levitt, senior vice president of retail operations and supply chain at The Save Mart Cos., said in a statement. “We know that many of our customers have been patiently waiting for new movie options, and this program allows them to choose to visit a movie theatre or view comfortably in their own homes.”

Fandango Buy Me tags are featured on participating products across Save Mart, Lucky California and FoodMaxx stores, including on items from popular brands such as Frito Lay, Pepsi and Nature’s Own. Each Fandango or VUDU reward redeemed is good toward one movie ticket or content rental up to $13 at Fandango.com or VUDU.com or through the Fandango and VUDU apps. Reward redemptions are limited to four per household.

Overall, Save Mart Cos. retail banners include Save Mart supermarkets in California’s Central Valley and northern Nevada (82 stores), Lucky and Lucky California supermarkets in the San Francisco Bay Area (68 stores), FoodMaxx warehouse grocery stores in the Bay Area and Central Valley (53 locations) and one MaxxValue discount food store in Modesto.
