Philly Supermarkets Offer Free Turkey

MONTVALE, N.J. — New weekly circulars for A&P’s Pathmark and SuperFresh in the Philadelphia market breaking this week are advertising free frozen turkeys with a $100 purchase.

MONTVALE, N.J. — New weekly circulars for A&P’s Pathmark and SuperFresh in the Philadelphia market breaking this week are advertising free frozen turkeys with a $100 purchase.

Other stores in the chain are offering turkeys for as little as 28 cents a pound.

Competitors in Philadelphia include ShopRite, which last month began a promotion offering free turkeys with $400 in total purchases between Oct. 20 and Nov. 28. Acme fliers are offering Butterball turkeys at 99 cents per pound. Bottom Dollar Food fliers are offering frozen turkeys at 37 cents a pound (Butterball brand at 69 cents) with a minimum $25 purchase.

The offer for a free Shady Brook Farms turkey with a $100 purchase appears on sales fliers at most Pathmark and SuperFresh stores in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Pathmark stores in the greater New York market are offering Shady Brook turkeys at 28 cents a pound with a $100 purchase.

Some SuperFresh locations are offering Butterball turkeys at 69 cents (with a $75 purchase), 79 cents ($50 purchase) or 89 cents (with $25 purchase) per pound respectively. A&P and Waldbuam banners are offering that deal at most of its stores.
