Aldi opens new store in Georgia

The discount grocer plans to open 800 new U.S. locations by the end of 2028

Aldi opened a store in East Ellijay, Ga., on Thursday, the company announced.

Its new store at 24 West Highlands Dr. opened to shoppers at 8:45 a.m., and the first 100 received gift bags with Aldi products and gift cards.

Shoppers also can enter a sweepstakes through the grand opening weekend for a chance to win a $500 Aldi gift card.

Aldi, which has more than a dozen stores across the country this year, currently operates 2,362 U.S. locations, as of March 12, according to ScrapeHero

The German discount grocer, which has its U.S. operations headquartered in Batavia, Ill., said in early March that it plans to open 800 new U.S. locations by the end of 2028.
