Walgreens Boots Alliance announced Tuesday that it has named Lanesha Minnix to serve as executive vice president and global chief legal officer.

Minnix, who most recently served as executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary for Ecolab, Inc., will begin the new position on April 15, the company said in a press release.

She will report directly to Walgreens Boots Alliance CEO Tim Wentworth and will serve on the company’s executive committee.

In the new role, Minnix will oversee global legal, compliance, corporate governance, and corporate security functions.

“The health care and retail landscapes continue to evolve, and [Minnix’s] legal guidance and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to expand our reach beyond neighborhood pharmacies into other fast-growing areas of healthcare,” Wentworth said in the press release.

Minnix has also served as chief legal officer for Flowserve, overseeing their legal, compliance, and regulatory teams. Prior to that position, she was senior vice president and general counsel for BMC Stock Holdings.

She holds an MBA from the University of Tulsa.

The announcement comes during a time of big change at Walgreens. The company cut 5% of its corporate workforce in November, roughly 267 positions, and at the end of January, the company cut another 145 mainly corporate positions.
