Northgate González Market rolls out Instacart delivery

Latin American grocer expands online grocery options

Hispanic supermarket chain Northgate González Market has begun offering Instacart same-day online grocery delivery from 36 of its 41 stores across Southern California.

Instacart service through Northgate González Market is now available to the Anaheim, Calif.-based chain’s customers in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties in California. Northgate shoppers can access the service online at shop.northgatemarket.com or instacart.com/northgate-market as well as by downloading the Instacart app to their mobile device.

“Northgate González Market is proud to partner with Instacart to provide additional shopping options to our loyal customers,” said Mike Hendry, executive vice president of marketing and merchandising at Northgate. “Given our company’s expanding and increasingly diverse customer profile, our partnership makes total sense as we continue to strive to provide our customers with excellence in customer service, various shopping options and an enhanced shopping experience.”

Northgate orders are picked, packed and delivered by Instacart personal shoppers within the customer’s designated time frame, which can be the same day or scheduled up to two weeks ahead of time. To ensure social distancing, San Francisco-based Instacart said all of its orders now default to “Leave at My Door Delivery,” providing a contact-free grocery delivery experience.

“We know that people and families across Southern California are looking for convenient and reliable shopping options from the grocers that have been feeding our communities throughout this crisis. We’re proud to partner with Northgate González Market, giving their customers access to the groceries they need from the retailer they know and love,” said Andrew Nodes, vice president of retail at Instacart. “We recognize that delivery has become essential for many, and we’re dedicated to ensuring our retail partners can connect with their customers online during this time.”

Besides Instacart, Northgate González Market partners with Target-owned Shipt for same-day delivery of groceries and daily staples. The chain also offers the Northgate Pronto Curbside! pickup service at its La Habra and Norwalk, Calif., stores. For the curbside service, customers can order from 100 pantry items, including milk, chips, tortillas, coffee and Latin American staples such as meat, poultry, fruit, vegetables and Mexican sweet bread. Customers of the La Habra store can place curbside orders online, while at the Norwalk location they must fill out a downloadable order form and bring it to the store, where they park in a designated space, call a number to give their order and then wait for their groceries to be brought to their vehicle.
