BJ’s Wholesale Club has launched a click-and-collect service as part of enhancements to its e-commerce website.

Dubbed “Shop BJs.com – Pick Up in Club,” the service enables members to make purchases from a selection of thousands of items on BJs.com and choose to pick up their orders in as soon as two hours from any of BJ’s 215 warehouse clubs in 16 states, the Westborough, Mass.-based company said Thursday.

After placing their orders online, customers receive a notification that their items will be ready for pickup in two hours at the designated BJ’s location. On arriving at the club, members check in with a door greeter, who then will direct them to the order pickup area.

Along with the addition of in-store pickup, BJ’s has expanded its Add-to-Card Coupons functionality to orders placed via BJs.com and the Shop BJs.com – Pick Up in Club service.

Previously only available for use in clubs, the feature now lets members select coupons at coupons.BJs.com and add them to their card digitally. The savings is applied automatically at checkout on BJs.com or in-store.

In addition, BJ’s said its website now sports a new look and feel to offer customers a more user-friendly, personalized shopping experience. The enhanced BJs.com homepage now shows featured products and top categories and highlights personalized recommendations and seasonal solutions.

"We're excited to roll out these new benefits for our members," Rafeh Masood, senior vice president and chief digital officer at BJ's, said in a statement.

The new website features come a week after BJ’s added a new “swipe right” shopping tool to its mobile app. The discover functions enables shoppers to explore new products and swipe right on their mobile device screen to add to a wish list. They also can swipe left to dismiss a product.

BJ’s said the tool employs machine learning to personalize the discover experience to each customer, based on their previous actions in swiping right or left.

"Our new discover experience brings the excitement of the in-club treasure hunt to our mobile app," Masood commented when the tool was announced. “This new feature is easy to use, and we believe it makes our app fun as well as convenient."
