Target is expanding its same-day pickup and delivery services to include adult beverages, the Minneapolis-based mass retailer announced Monday.

Order Pickup and/or Drive Up for beer, wine, spirits and other adult beverages will be available at more than 1,200 stores across the country, and via Same-Day Delivery with Shipt at more than 600 stores by the end of the month. The expanded selection will roll out via Order Pickup and/or Drive Up in 29 states across the country, and for same-day delivery where local laws allow.

The expansion will allow guests to use same-day pickup and delivery to purchase unique brands and exclusively launched offerings in Target’s adult beverage assortment.

Customers will be able to easily add adult beverage items to their digital cart using the Target app or Target.com and selecting “Order Pickup” or “Drive Up.” After entering their date of birth and checking out, they’ll receive a notification once the order is ready, and a Target team member will verify identification upon pickup.

“Our adult beverage category is one of the fastest-growing divisions within our food and beverage business, and we continue to hear from guests how much they love our fast, easy and safe same-day services,” said Rick Gomez, chief food and beverage officer at Target. “As we continue to invest in the products and experiences our guests love, making our wine, beer and spirits selection available for pickup and delivery is a natural next step, and we’re proud our team moved so quickly to bring this enhanced service to hundreds of additional stores nationwide.”

Target’s same-day assortment expansion comes after successful pilots last year in Florida, California and South Dakota, where the retailer fulfilled hundreds of thousands of same-day pickup and delivery orders and saw more than 450% digital growth in the adult beverage category, driven largely from Order Pickup, Drive Up and Same-Day Delivery with Shipt.

The expansion will allow guests to use same-day pickup and delivery to purchase unique brands and exclusively launched offerings in Target’s adult beverage assortment, including new and upcoming additions like SunPop Wine and Frozen Cocktail Popsicles, Photograph Wine and The Mystic Reef Hard Seltzer Lemonade Variety Pack.
