Southeastern Grocers has expanded online grocery delivery through Shipt and Instacart to Winn-Dixie supermarkets in Louisiana.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based grocer said Wednesday that Winn-Dixie customers in Baton Rouge, Covington, Mandeville, New Orleans and Slidell, La., as well as Westbank communities and other areas, can now shop for groceries and household essentials on the Shipt and Instacart online marketplaces and have them delivered to their homes the same day.

Shoppers will be able to purchase fresh produce, meat and seafood, health and beauty aids, pet products, consumable baby items and other offerings via Shipt and Instacart at same price as in-store, the retailer noted. To order, customers go online to winndixie.com/shoponline, enter their ZIP code for delivery service in their area, and then begin shopping.

“We are always looking for additional opportunities to meet the evolving needs of our customers in each community we serve. As we embrace digital advancements, we are excited to expand our e-commence partnerships to offer added conveniences for Louisiana shoppers,” Andrew Nadin, executive vice president and chief customer officer at Southeastern Grocers, said in a statement.

The No. 1 reason that customers shop online is to save time, a recent Southeastern Grocers survey found. More than a third of shoppers reported buying groceries online within the past year, and of those customers, 88% had their orders delivered.

“Partnering with marketplace leaders will provide our customers with simple options for the same quality products and value, which will help make their lives a little easier,” Nadin added.

In support of the delivery service launch, Winn-Dixie customers who are first-time users of Instacart can get $10 off their first delivery order of $35 or more by entering the code “HiWinnDixie10” at checkout. And through Nov. 12, Shipt members who place a Winn-Dixie order of $80 or more will receive a $10 credit on their next Shipt purchase.

Overall, Southeastern Grocers operates about 570 stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina under the Winn-Dixie, Bi-Lo, Harveys Supermarket and Fresco y Más banners.
