ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wegmans Organic Almond butter has emerged as the most popular nut butter in a new line that also includes Cashew and Tahini butters, said Mary Ellen Burris, senior vice president of consumer affairs for Wegmans, in a Fresh Stories blog post.

“The 16 oz. jar contains just ground organic dry roasted unblanched almonds that are gluten-free, lactose, free and vegan,” according to Burris who attributes the popularity to almonds’ heart healthy image and low saturated fat levels.

The butters are merchandised in Wegmans’ Nature’s Marketplace, are unsalted and come in chunky and smooth versions.

Gourmet sweets are likewise a hit with shoppers, including Wegmans festively wrapped Dark Chocolate with Cinnamon Glazed Pecans, Dark Chocolate with White Peppermint and Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt Toffee 3-ounce candy bars with 61% Cacao, said Burris.

Borrowing from these flavors is Wegmans Under the Boardwalk premium caramel ice cream with sea salt caramel swirls and caramel truffles.

“If you’ve fallen for the flavor of our chocolate bars, then you’ll love our Wegmans Under The Boardwalk premium ice cream,” said Burris. “Another indulgent product in this premium ice cream line is the new Cinnamon flavor…good on apple pie.”
