Bi-Lo to Convert Piggly Wiggly Stores

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bi-Lo Holdings here said its acquisition of 22 Piggly Wiggly stores in South Carolina and Georgia is set to close Nov. 2, after which it will close and rebanner the locations under the Bi-Lo name.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bi-Lo Holdings here said its acquisition of 22 Piggly Wiggly stores in South Carolina and Georgia from Piggly Wiggly Carolina is set to close Nov. 2, after which it will close and rebanner the locations under the Bi-Lo name.

Twelve of the Piggly Wiggly stores are scheduled to close on Nov. 2 and reopen on Nov. 8 as Bi-Lo stores, and eight others are scheduled to close on Nov. 9 and reopen on Nov. 15 as Bi-Lo.

Bi-Lo Holdings also said it will acquire the Piggly Wiggly store located at 4430 Highway 17 Bypass in Murrells Inlet, S.C. This store also will close on Nov. 9 and reopen as a BI-LO store on Nov. 15. This store is in addition to the Piggly Wiggly stores that were announced on Sept. 12.

The Piggly Wiggly store located at 115 Willbrook Blvd. in Pawleys Island, S.C., will close temporarily on or before Nov. 9 to undergo a renovation that is estimated to last approximately three to four months. Upon completion of the Willbrook Boulevard renovation, the existing Bi-Lo at Ocean Highway will close permanently.

Workers at the Willbrook Boulevard and Ocean Highway locations will be able to pursue other open positions in nearby stores and will be provided with resources to guide them through the transition process.
