EDINA, Minn. — Lund Food Holdings here on Thursday said it has opened its first pet store, Bone Marché, which it called the only pet store in the Twin Cities that’s part of a grocery chain.

The new store, which carries supplies, products and foods for pet dogs, cats, rabbits, fish and birds, opened adjacent to Byerly’s St. Louis Park location. It has a separate entrance and welcomes pets on leashes.

The store features a “bone bar,” a variety of specialty pet-food brands and refrigerated and frozen pet foods, the company said.

Separately, Lunds and Byerly’s have launched a program offering discounted pet medications at their 14 in-store pharmacies.

The Lunds and Byerly’s Pet Savings Program is provided by Cary, N.C.-based Paramount Rx, a full-service prescription benefits manager (PBM).

“The Pet Savings Program continues our company’s tradition of providing the Twin Cities community with extraordinary food, exceptional service and passionate expertise,” said Jodi Ristau, senior manager of pharmacy operations for Lunds and Byerly's pharmacies. “This program will offer our customers a new standard in cost savings and convenience, and will allow us to provide a one-stop solution for meeting the medication needs of all members of the family, including those with four legs.”

Lund Food Holdings operates 11 Lunds and 11 Byerly’s stores in the Twin Cities area.
