The court ordered NGA and other association plaintiffs in the case to post notices on their websites after previous information posted about the settlement was deemed to be misleading. The judge in the case, John Gleeson, “was concerned that [visitors to the association website] may not have fully understood their rights and may have made decisions without complete information,” an NGA spokeswoman told SN.

“NGA has made the changes as ordered, which include prominently displaying the banners directing visitors to the court-approved website PaymentCardSettlement.com to see the court-approved notice containing a detailed description of the class members' rights and options,” the NGA spokeswoman said.

NGA and some other associations and retailers have opposed the proposed settlement, saying it does not go far enough in reforming interchange-fee practices by payment-card companies. A fairness hearing on the settlement, which would include payments of about $7.25 billion by Visa and MasterCard, has been scheduled for Sept. 12.
