Dollar General Adds Cracker Barrel CEO to Board

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General here said Wednesday that restaurant executive Sandy Cochran has joined its board of directors, expanding the group to nine members.

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General here said Wednesday that restaurant executive Sandy Cochran has joined its board of directors, expanding the group to nine members.

Cochran is president and chief executive officer of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, the Lebanon, Tenn.-based chain of family restaurants. Before joining Cracker Barrel in 2009, she was CEO at book retailer Books-A-Million from February 2004 to April 2009. She also had been that company's president, chief financial officer and vice president of finance.

Cochran will serve on the audit committee of Dollar General’s board. She is the fifth independent director, giving the board an independent majority.
