CHICAGO — Bill Bolton, a veteran supermarket industry executive, is leading a private investment group buying the Fox & Obel gourmet grocery store here, published reports said Wednesday. Bolton served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Supervalu’s retail operations before leaving in 2000 and is a former chief executive officer for Bruno’s Supermarkets. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Bolton is an investor in Vulpes LLC, the company buying Fox & Obel. Vulpes intends to expand the number of Fox & Obel locations in the Chicago area, the report said.
