Junquiero Elected WAFC President

LAKEWOOD, Calif. — The Western Association of Food Chains here said Steve Junquiero, president and chief operating officer of Save Mart Supermarkets, Modesto, Calif., has been elected chairman and president of WAFC.

LAKEWOOD, Calif. — The Western Association of Food Chains here said Steve Junquiero, president and chief operating officer of Save Mart Supermarkets, Modesto, Calif., has been elected chairman and president of WAFC.

He succeeds Oscar Gonzalez, co-president of Northgate Gonazlez Markets, Anaheim, Calif. Gonzalez will become chairman of WAFC's advisory group, which includes past presidents of the association.

Sue Klug, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Unified Grocers, Commerce, Calif., was elected vice president, succeeding Junquiero. Two other WAFC officers were reelected: Rick Rayford, president and chief executive officer at Brookshire Grocery Co., Tyler, Texas, as secretary; and Bryan Kaltenbach, president of Food 4 Less, Los Angeles, as treasurer.

Three new members were elected to WAFC's 31-member board: Edward Basha 3rd, chairman, president and CEO of Bashas', Chandler, Arizona; Kevin Curry, senior vice president, sales and merchandising, for Raley's Supermarkets, West Sacramento, Calif; and Phil Miller, vice president, West region, for C&S Wholesale Grocers, Keene, N.H.
