Wal-Mart Added to Distributor Lawsuit

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Wal-Mart Stores here has been added as a defendant in a federal lawsuit filed against a Southern California warehouse contracted to distribute products to the company.

The original lawsuit alleges workers were underpaid and forced to work off the clock by Schneider Logistics, Mira Loma, Calif., which warehouses imports from Los Angeles and Long Beach harbors and ships them to Wal-Mart distribution centers and stores across the country.

In adding Wal-Mart to the suit, attorneys for the workers at Schneider were quoted as saying Wal-Mart has "the ultimate liability for workplace violations."

Wal-Mart has said it has no control over what the facility does.
