The Fresh Market said Thursday it had signed a lease to build a new store in Guilford, Conn.

The specialty grocer is expected to open late this year at the Guilford Commons project now under construction near I-95 and the Boston Post Road. The store will be the third in Connecticut for the Greensboro, N.C.-based retailer.

“We are pleased to welcome The Fresh Market to Guilford Commons as we expand our relationship with this specialty grocer that offers consumers a fresh concept in grocery shopping,” Matt Schuler, director of communications for center developer DDR, said in a statement. “We look forward to providing updates on additional Guilford Commons tenants as leases become finalized.”
