Jax Markets CEO Bill MacAloney dies

Bill MacAloney, CEO and President of Jax Markets, died on Wednesday due to cancer, the Food Marketing Institute reported.  

MacAloney sat on the boards of the Food Marketing Institute, the Western Association of Food Chins, Unified Grocers, California Grocers Association and the Food Industries Circle for the City of Hope.

He sat on the FMI Board of Directors for 30 years, from 1984 to 2013, holding the positions of vice chairman of the board for public affairs and FoodPAC Committee Chairman. He was an active leader on legislative issues.

MacAloney received the Glenn P. Woodard Public Service Award in 1999 and the FMI Distinguished Industry Leader award in 2013.

There will be a brief ceremony at Fairhaven Mortuary in Santa Ana, Calif.

He is survived by Gwen MacAloney, his wife of 47 years.
