Walmart ups Alaska seafood selection

Walmart has expanded its Alaskan seafood offerings with a new exclusive line and other new products, available at select stores.

Walmart The Alaskan seafood private labelWalmart has expanded its Alaskan seafood offerings with a new exclusive line and other new products, available at select stores.

Products in “The Alaskan” brand, created by Trident Seafoods and sold exclusively at Walmart, comprise coho salmon, fish sandwiches, Pollock fillets, whitefish burgers and grilled salmon. Walmart also added nine other Alaska seafood items, including cod, salmon, rockfish and king crab.

The new seafood items are on sale at all Alaska supercenter locations and 20 stores in Washington.

“Our customers shop with an eye for quality and value. Like us, they’re also passionate about supporting local products. Some of the best catches in the world are found right here in Alaska and we’re proud to add these items to our seafood assortment,” Scott Patton, market manager, Walmart U.S., said in a press release.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated "The Alaskan" brand was a private label line. It is a brand created by Trident Seafoods and sold exclusively at Walmart.
