Salamone, a 47-year industry veteran, most recently had been vice president of seafood merchandising.

“I'm so fortunate to work for a company that recognizes its responsibility to its employees and customers and to the environment we all share. I'm really excited to use my 40 years of experience in seafood to do something I believe is necessary for the continuation of farmed and wild fish resources,” Salamone said in a statement.

At the International Boston Seafood Show earlier this year, Salamone stressed the importance of sourcing seafood sustainably for environmental reasons and because of growing interest among consumers.
