PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle here has selected Chicago-based Galleria Retail Technology Solutions' assortment planning and space optimization solutions, Galleria announced yesterday. The retailer will use this technology to generate customer-centric assortments, communicated through automated planograms. "We are excited to provide our merchandising teams with an advanced solution that enables the creation of customer-centric assortments," said Stephanie White, Giant Eagle's vice president of sales systems and operations, in a statement. "In addition, the ability to create automated store-specific planograms ensures that product inventories are optimized based on each store's unique sales patterns, improving availability and sales within each of our stores." Giant Eagle's goal, said Galleria, is to increase the regularity with which category assortments are reviewed, ensuring that they are optimized for sales and profitability and that they deliver against the strategies for each category and for the organization as a whole.
