SN presented its 2009 Sustainability Excellence Awards to Publix Super Markets (chain category), Lakeland, Fla., and Buehler's Food Markets (independent category), Wooster, Ohio, at the Food Marketing Institute's Energy & Technical Services Conference in Indian Wells, Calif., last month. Accepting the awards were Becky Foster, director of construction and maintenance, Buehler's; Steve Sloan, refrigeration and energy program manager, Publix (center); and Mike Faas, senior project manager, Publix. Associated Food Stores, Salt Lake City, was the winner in the wholesaler category.
