The deal, expected to be completed in early February, will combine PlaceWise’s 7 million monthly shoppers with the 4 million of GSN, a provider of online marketing services for grocery retailers that supplies “digital storefronts” for online shopping. The combined company will present its offerings as part of the Shoptopia Network, which encompasses 400 malls and 1.2 million retail locations.

According to Mort Aaronson, CEO of PlaceWise Media, "PlaceWise has its roots in digital mall marketing, and GSN is our mirror image in the grocery industry.

"Mobile and online customer access has become the middleware connecting brand advertising and shopper marketing," he said. "It's a dramatic shift of power to the consumer and changes how advertisers plan, execute and measure campaigns."
