Ingles, Shoppers Aim for $50K Donation

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Ingles Markets here said it would match donations from its shoppers to benefit the Manna FoodBank with a goal of raising $50,000 for Manna’s hunger-relief programs.

The $50,000 fund-raising goal coincides with Ingles’ 50th anniversary, the food bank said in a release. Ingles at its store checkouts is offering shoppers a “giving circle” token for $1. For every circle purchased, Ingles will match it up to $25,000.

“We realize that unemployment in our region remains very high and are committed to helping those families in need find some relief by keeping food on the table. Manna is the perfect partner to help us make this happen,” Tom Outlaw, Ingles’ vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.

Manna FoodBank serves 16 counties in western North Carolina as part of the Feeding America network.
