The Baker-Bot from Apex Motion Control seeks to drive efficiencies in large-scale baking operations, offering precision cake and cookie decoration, among other steps involved in bakery production, on a large scale. The company used motion sensors to study the movements of professional cake decorators top teach the robot the nuances of cake and cookie decoration.
Donuts have been a hot category within in-store bakery departments, as consumers continue to seek small indulgences for themselves and their families. This display was created for the “What’s in Store Live” section at IDDBA 2023 by Clyde’s Donuts.
“What’s in Store Live” also featured this Eat & Run display, offering grab-and-go merchandising inspiration. Among the products on display were sliced meat and cheese on a stick, street corn in a cup with a spoon, and street cheese on a stick.
Plant-based beef, chicken and dairy alternatives were fairly common on the show floor. Finless, meanwhile, was showcasing its plant-based seafood alternatives, including tuna poke made with winter melon instead of real seafood.
Gluten-free and allergen-free foods have long been a challenge for supermarket bakeries. The pies from Raised Gluten Free offer solutions that are also vegan, dairy-free, and plant-based, among other attributes.
And just in case you were planning a birthday party for Wednesday Addams, the “What’s in Store Live” section was offering bite-sized cakes topped with insects. Manchurian Scorpions and Black Ants from Ento Market were on display for those brave enough to sample what some believe may be an emerging source of protein.
