MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu said Tuesday it has hired Barry Crane as vice president of corporate logistics.

Crane, who will report to Janel Haugarth, executive vice president and president of independent business and supply chain, will be responsible for the centrally led functions of transportation, distribution operations, risk management, operational analysis, industrial engineering, and advantage logistics.

Crane most recently was vice president, global distribution and logistics at The Talbots. Prior to that, he has held positions with Trans World Entertainment, Wal-Mart Stores, and Federal Express.
