Giant Eagle has been inviting students into its stores for healthy eating field trips for 20 years, according to the retailer’s Facebook page.

Giant Eagle has been inviting students into its stores for healthy eating field trips for 20 years, according to the retailer’s Facebook page.

Schools can sign up for Giant Eagle’s “Be a Smart Shopper!” program on the Field Trip Factory website. The program aims to help children understand good nutrition, to learn about the source of food and seasonality and to encourage physical fitness.

Giant Eagle is also partnering with The Field Trip factory on a National Nutrition Month giveaway. Schools that are located in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, metropolitan areas can enter to win $500 towards exercise equipment and a school visit by one of Giant Eagle’s registered dietitians. The second prize winner will receive a $50 Giant Eagle gift card.
